The RTW-20E delivers the benefits of a rotary cabinet washing system in a compact, easy-to-install package. Designed for smaller components and light-to-medium production requirements, the machine combines a rotating turntable with high-pressure spray cleaning to provide thorough and repeatable cleaning of manufactured parts.

Parts are loaded through the top access opening onto a 20-inch diameter turntable capable of supporting up to 100 pounds. During operation, the turntable rotates at 6 RPM while strategically positioned spray nozzles apply cleaning solution to all exposed surfaces. The rotating action helps ensure complete cleaning coverage while minimizing operator involvement.

Constructed from durable 304 stainless steel and powered by a 2 HP wash pump delivering 40 GPM at 35 PSI, the RTW-20E provides reliable performance for a variety of industrial cleaning applications. SYSTEM DETAILS

RTW Washer

RTW Cabinet

Wash Cabinet

Basic design of the machine consists of a cabinet that houses the turntable and spray system. The bottom of the cabinet also acts as a tank for holding 45 gallons of cleaning solution.

The cabinet measures approximately 22″ square (inside) and is fabricated from 12-gauge 304 stainless steel using all-welded construction to provide a water-tight, first-rate appearance. The top of the cabinet includes a recessed lip that acts as a seal for the hinged lid, and the interior of the cabinet (beneath the turntable) includes a removable stainless steel chip tray.

The tank at the bottom of the cabinet is fitted with two Indeeco brand 6 kW stainless steel immersion heaters that are operated by a Watlow digital temperature controller on the main electrical enclosure. The tank extends out 14” at the rear of the machine to allow an open area for mounting the vertical wash pump, and the bottom of the tank is sloped to a stainless-steel drain valve for solution change-out. A 12” diameter stainless steel tank clean-out cover is also provided on one cabinet wall for tank access.

RTW Turntable

RTW Turntable

Turntable

The 20” diameter turntable is fabricated from stainless steel materials and includes a 3” tall perimeter and a 1/2” diameter stainless steel center shaft. The shaft extends downward into a UHMW polyethylene support block, and the top face of the block provides a low friction support surface for the turntable.
The turntable is friction driven by a fractional horsepower AC gearmotor located outside of the cabinet on the back of the machine. A rubber wheel on the gearbox output shaft extends into the cabinet and drives the turntable on its perimeter. During the automatic washing sequence, the turntable rotates at a constant speed of 6 RPM while the machine runs through its timed cleaning cycle.

RTW Sprayer

RTW Sprayer

Wash Pump and Spray System

The wash pump is a Gusher brand vertical, end-suction, centrifugal unit with cast iron housing and impeller, complete with a 2 HP, 3450 RPM motor. The pump is capable of delivering solution to the spray system at a rate of up to 40 GPM @ 35 PSI. A pressure gauge and a stainless-steel ball valve are provided to monitor and control pump output.

The spray system consists of two stainless steel header pipe assemblies that each provide top, side, and bottom spray coverage. The individual header pipes are drilled to accept Spraying Systems brand 1/4″ MPT spray nozzles made of stainless steel. These nozzles develop a flat-V spray pattern to spray solution onto the process parts.

RTW Electrical

Electrical Controls

Electrical controls are housed in a Hoffman (or Saginaw) brand NEMA 12 enclosure mounted on the side of the wash cabinet (as room permits, otherwise enclosure is free standing). Components within the enclosure are finger-safe and are Allen-Bradley brand unless noted otherwise. Components include a main disconnect switch, Littelfuse fuse holders and branch circuit fuses, terminal strips, a
G.E. (or equal) transformer to provide a 115 Volt control circuit, master control relay, Minarik 90 Volt DC motor controller (for the turntable drive), heating system contactor, and an IEC-style motor circuit protector with thermal overload and short circuit protection.

An equipment power on pushbutton, an emergency stop pushbutton are provided on the front door of the main electrical enclosure, along with the reservoir heating system’s Watlow digital temperature controller. Machine start/stop controls are provided on the side of the enclosure facing the front of the machine. Buttons and lights are Allen-Bradley brand.

The machine is wired per NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 79 electrical standards, ready for connection to your electrical service.

Electric Heat

Electric Heat for Wash/Rinse Tank. Consists of (2) Indeeco brand 12 kW screw-plug immersion heaters capable of heating tank contents from 70 to 140 degrees (F) in one hour. The heaters have stainless steel elements and fittings, with cast iron NEMA 4 conduit boxes. One heater is located in the wash compartment and one heater is located in the rinse compartment. The Rinse heater is made from Incoloy to be used with straight water.

A Watlow brand temperature controller mounted on the door of the main electrical enclosure provides digital read-out and control of solution temperature in the wash tank. A stainless steel type-J thermocouple located in the tank provides an input signal to the controller, which switches the heaters on and off to maintain setpoint temperature.

Insulation for Heated Wash Tanks. Consists of a 2″ thickness of fiberglass batting on all exterior tank walls, held in place by a 14 gauge stainless steel jacket. Also includes stainless steel covers for open areas of tank.

RCW Bag Filtration

Bag Filtration

Bag Filtration

Consists of a floor-mounted bag filter housing and a filter bag rated at 50 microns. The 4″ diameter by 12″ tall stainless-steel housing is over-sized for less frequent filter change-outs, and the unit is piped between the spray pump and the spray nozzles in the Washer. The housing includes a stainless-steel internal basket for holding one filter bag, and the hinged stainless-steel cover is held in place with three eyebolts. Inlet and outlet pressure gauges are also provided.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I get the machine to my facility?

ALMCO can help arrange a truck shipment to get the machine to your facility. You may need to work with a local machine rigging company to place the machine properly in your facility.

How do I get the machine installed and set up to run at my facility?

After the purchase of a machine, ALMCO will provide installation, unloading and set-up instructions. You can also pay to have an ALMCO representative on site during the installation to ensure the machine is running properly and your operators are trained on using the system.

Do I need to purchase special cleaning chemical compounds to run in the system?

ALMCO carries a line of chemicals including cleaning compounds and rust inhibitors that are sold separately. It is highly recommended that you send in sample parts for testing prior to issuing a purchase order to ensure we find the right cleaning solution for your parts depending on the material and the dirtiness of the parts.

Do I need parts baskets, fixtures, racks or any other accessories to hold my parts?

In some cases parts are too small to stay on the conveyor on their own. ALMCO can help make recommendations for fixtures or baskets used in other customer applications.

What are other facility considerations needed to run this equipment?

You may need an exhaust fan, stack, ducting or a roof opening to allow mist to make its way out of the building where the unit is running. ALMCO offers mist and vapor collectors that integrate into the system and are sold as optional equipment.

How are the tanks cleaned out?

ALMCO provides threaded fittings on the rinse and collection tanks. These are ready for drain valves or piping from tank drain fittings to your wastewater collection system. There is also access doors on the tanks to allow for cleanout.

What if I need a different size machine to accommodate my parts?

If one of ALMCOs stock size units don’t work for your application, our engineers can put together a custom solution built specifically to your requirements. The cost and lead time are also increased with custom modifications.
